This ENHANCED television set top digital media center
features the popular Freevo package and a massive
300 GB storage capacity that delivers music, movies, and images to your
television screen and high quality audio to your stereo system. Using a handy
remote control, and on-television screen menus, it enables the ripping and
storage of thousands of songs, albums, and DVD movies (actual storage depends
on format and length of media). The system supports recording in .wav, .mp3, .ogg, and .fla formats, and playback of most commonly used
formats, including .m4a! The music is automatically categorized by artist,
album, and song. Be your own DJ and create playlists for playback in any order.
If
the media center is connected to the Internet, listen to webcast radio stations.
The
media center rips and plays DVDs, so that you may watch your favorite movies.
The
media center stores your favorite digital photos and artwork for display.
Create photo albums and slide shows. Rotate pictures
while viewing.
In
addition, the system can interface with computers on an existing Ethernet
network (10/100 Mbps), so that recordings can be shared. Recordings may also be
transferred into the box merely by drag-and-drop from your Windows PC.
Using
VNC software, the system can also be controlled across the network. For
example, I like to use my wireless laptop to remote control my stereo.
This system
comes COMPLETE in a console case with ONE infrared remote controller. It’s a
real bargain when compared to devices of similar quality and value, and looks
nice next to your TV set! TV cable and power cables are included.
HARDWARE SPECIFICATIONS: the media center includes an
Intel™ 733MHz processor with 64Mb of RAM. A 300 GB hard drive provides storage of digitally
recorded media. The machine is networked via internal 10/100 Mbps Ethernet
adapter. Graphics capability is provided by
a NVIDIA™ 3D GPU, with NTSC output. An optional connector adapter
permits usage of a usb keyboard.
SOFTWARE
SPECIFICATIONS: the media center runs Debian Linux (2.4.26
kernel OS). Use a conveniently networked PC or screen icons with the remote
control to operate this system. Freevo 1.50 provides the
media center functions. Samba provides
Windows networking interoperability.
